My baby of six weeks often throws up some minutes after she's breastfed, she has catarrh and just started coughing. what can I do?
Babies with cough and catarrh.... . Exclusive breastfeeding and keeping baby warm.... Avoidance of smoke and people with cough and catarrh are what to do... No need for medications. If child should develop breathing difficulties kindly take to see a Paediatrician

There are some measures that can help like keeping baby upright for longer up to 30 mins after feeding and burping. However, in serious cases these measures may not work so you have to see your paediatrician for more....like we can thicken the feeds, use some medications and in extreme cases, few may need surgery (extreme being the key words). most babies do well with general measures like keeping them upright and not laying them flat shortly after feeds.....only few need the extra measures....for most babies as they get bigger and mature, reflux reduces as the sphincter or gate between the stomach and the oesophagus get stronger to prevent the retrograde flow of food/milk.
On your baby throwing up after feed, it is reflux or more properly called Gastro-oesophageal reflux. It basically means food tend to return from the stomach back to the gut....which is the opposite of what is right way.
