The amount of protein and some minerals or electrolytes in the regular cow milk is too much for infants. The age-appropriate formula has been modified in a way that constituents are similar in composition to that of breast milk and missing essential nutrients also added artificially. So best to breastfeed your babies for as long as you can at least 2 years but if not possible for any reason that is not possible, the next better thing is to give age-appropriate formula at least for children below age 1 year.
Cow milk is to be introduced after age 1. There are nutrients added to infant formula that are very important for brain growth, protection against infections e.t.c that makes the age-appropriate formula as close to breast milk as possible. These essential nutrients are not present in the adult or regular cow milk.
