As a mom, you want to do everything possible to make sure your children are healthy and protected from preventable diseases. The best way to do this is through vaccination is the best way to do that.<\/p>\n

Importance of Vaccination<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vaccination protects your growing child from serious illnesses and complications of vaccine-preventable diseases which can include amputation of an arm or leg, paralysis of limbs, hearing loss, convulsions, brain damage, and death.<\/p>\n

Childhood vaccines timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 6-in-one vaccine<\/strong> usually given at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age to all babies. This protects them against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) and hepatitis B.<\/p>\n

Pneumococcal or pneumo jab (PCV)<\/strong> is given at 8 weeks, 16 weeks and one year of age. It protects against some types of pneumococcal infection.<\/p>\n

Rotavirus vaccine<\/strong> is given at 8 and 12 weeks of age. It protects against rotavirus infection, a common cause of childhood diarrhoea and sickness.<\/p>\n

Men B vaccine <\/strong>is\u00a0given at 8 weeks, 16 weeks and one year of age. It protects against meningitis (caused by meningococcal type B bacteria).<\/p>\n

Hib\/Men C vaccine<\/strong>\u00a0is given at\u00a0one year of age and protects against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and meningitis caused by meningococcal group C bacteria.<\/p>\n

MMR vaccine<\/strong> is given\u00a0at\u00a0one year and at three years and four months of age and it protects against measles, mumps and rubella.<\/p>\n
