The combined oral contraceptive pill often referred to as the birth control pill or colloquially as “the pill”is a type of female contraception designed to be taken orally by women. It includes a combination of an estrogen and a progestogen.<\/p>\n

How often should I take birth control pills?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is a pill you take every day to avoid getting pregnant. The combined pill contains the hormones oestrogen and progestogen, a combined pill is different from the progestogen-only pill.<\/p>\n

How does birth control pills work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oestrogen and progestogen stop eggs being made, so no egg is released from the ovary.\u00a0This pill is normally 92% effective. This means 8 in 100 people will get pregnant each year but if taken effectively it can be 99% effective.<\/p>\n

How often should I take this pill?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is best to take this pill at the same time every day. Alarm on your phone can be set to remind you of when to take them.<\/p>\n
