In some cases like case of pelvic that's closed. Ppl call it male pelvic, u know from beginning. But other cases may take time to know. Some is only at the end like bridge, if baby's legs are down n head up, cord around neck, placenta in front blocking baby. There are several other cases. You need to keep appointments with ur OBGYN so he will keep you in check by doing scheduled pelvic scans.

If its an elective cs you will be told, your doctor wont wait for you to fall into labour. Its always performed due to baby's position, small pelvis, high bp. But in some cases where all this factors has been ruled out and on delivery day the mother stopped dilating half way, or baby is already stressed or some unforseen situation just occur, mother will be wheeled into theartre to save the baby and mother.
