It is usually due to maternal hyperglycemia (high glucose level) or gestational diabetes. Every pregnant woman is screened for gestational diabetes and care is taken to monitor their babies immediately after birth. It is also due to the fact that such babies are macrosomic( big babies). Whichever, such mothers would have been screened during pregnancy

@Joyce19997, such babies are tested immediately after birth, when the mother has not started breastfeeding, as u said maybe stress of labour. I will find out more and post.

These could have been caused by various factors only determined after proper medical check up by a licensed doctor. I will advice a regular checkup with a pediatrician with vast knowledge in neonatal endocrinology.
