Piriton tablets and Piriton allergy tablets are not recommended for children under six years of age. Piriton syrup is more suitable for this age group.
To give a Piriton Syrup, IT MUST BE RECOMMENDED BY A DOCTOR.
Children aged 1 to 2 years should be given 2.5ml (the small end of a medicine spoon) of Piriton syrup twice a day when needed to relieve symptoms, with at least four hours between the doses. Do not give more than two 2.5ml doses in 24 hours.
Piriton syrup is not licensed for children under one year of age. However, doctors do sometimes prescribe it to treat babies aged one month or over. You should only give this medicine to babies aged under one year if instructed to by your doctor.
