@jeremy, just to clarify that a newborn's cord falls off BTW 3-21days. Google it or ask medical personnel's. I had to do researches cos my baby's own was taking time(though i wasnt diligent in cleaning it.it finally fell on the 17th day amidst dancing..lol!

Abet go to d hospital oooo u shouldn't have allowed ur mother in-law to change it..... When I put to bed my hospital sold a gel for me too it fell off the third day in fact my mother in-law took d rest with so she can use it for someone else

The doctor confirmed the cord is not infected but adviced we stop using d gel n use d spirit to clean aggressively as many times as possible daily ..we were told to watch it for anoda one week...d doctor said d same tin happened to her baby's cord too but dat it finally fell off wen she did dis. Please we were warned in antenatal not to mix gel and spirit, concentrate on 1,so that you'll not introduce infection. Get an original spirit.

Use sachet closeup toothpaste. Make sure it is the red one. Rob it round the baby's naval as often as you can. It will fall off before today runs out. I had similar experience though mine was not upto a month. Try it works.

Cords shud fall off within day3 and day7 after birth. It has lasted too long. Don't stay at home my dear. Go straight to d hospital, it's too dangerous. D child's life lies in dat cord.
