Not sure if it delays but I know people who have a staphylococcus infection and got pregnant. Staphylococcus or MRSA infections have not been linked to causing birth defects. However, if the infection gets into the amniotic fluid (fluid around the baby), it can cause preterm delivery and infection of the baby in the newborn period.
