2.Are you keeping your child warm or exposing to cold with frequent baths or cold baths or direct fan or too cold ac in the room?
3.Are you exposing your child to smoke - kitchen, cigarette, firewood, palm oil frying etc?
4.Do you have cattarh or cough yourself?
5. Is your child in school?
6.Is your child well-immunized at age
If after considering the tips above and the cold persists or should your baby develop difficulty in breathing or fast breathing. Kindly take him to the hospital for evaluation.

For cough- sometimes, you may not need to give medications as it may be viral and would run its course and go on its own. However on other times the child may need to be attended to by a doctor. Example is when the child has breathing difficulties due to the cough or when the child develops a fever. In such cases, you would need to see a doctor.
If the vomiting was immediately, then the dose should be repeated but if more than 30 minutes there is no need to repeat the dose.
Most cough and cattarh are usually due to viral infection which will normally run their course with or without any form of treatment hence we discourage abuse of antibiotics in that regard

A test can be done to know the immunity of your child. If you want, you can request them before your baby is immunized there are many labs that can do them for example popular PATHCARE, there are others too though not cheap

The child is sick and possibly the cough is severe. Kindly take him to see a doctor who will examine him properly, make accurate diagnosis of the cause of the cough and vomiting and treat appropriately

✅ if there is fever Pls uncover the baby and give paracetamol in appropriate dose or Tepid sponge to bring the temperature down
✅ you can do steam inhalation with your baby (both mother and baby or father and baby). Never leave baby alone on steam inhalation
If nose is congested, u can give saline drop in each nostrils to help decongestant the nostril.
✔ if you have a room heater, you can use it to make breathing easier for your baby.
✔ continue breastfeeding baby EXCLUSIVELY.

Sometimes cough and catarrh may be viral and would need to run its course and then resolve on its own.. Keep the baby warm, try to find out what triggers the cough like perfume, smoke, etc and avoid such.. If it persists and other symptoms are found, you will need to return to the hospital.

Any cough lasting more than 2 weeks is CHRONIC COUGH and should be throughly evaluated by a Paediatrician - may even need Chest Xray and so on ...It could be BRONCHIAL ASTHMA OR TUBERCULOSIS etc. You should see a Paediatrician preferably at a Teaching Hospital for further evaluation and management.
