Please how do I take care of a SS child?
It is very important the child is registered with sickle cell clinics for proper monitoring. Child should be taking routine folic acid, malaria prophylaxis drugs like paludrine and multivitamin religiously everyday.Plenty of fluids intake should be encouraged. Avoid stress and treat infections and malaria promptly.
What is the difference between SF and SS Sickle Cell babies and how does one care for them?My 3years old and 1 year have the same sickle Cell status - SF genotype

In some children with Sickle Cell anaemia the HbF levels may remain persistently high and thats why it is written as HbSF. However such a child is still SS (Sickle cell anaemia) but with high levels of HbF. It is a good thing though as such children are more protected against crisis and other complications of Sickle cell anaemia
