It happened to me. I don't see my period for like 4 month sometimes 5, 3 months gap, because of my hormonal imbalance. I meet a gynecologist and run all the chemistry hormonal test. The problem is that I dont produce enough ovaries.they are very tiny to be fertilised. So the doc put me on drugs (ovumin or clomiphen)which will help boost my ovaries. Now am 36 weeks pregnant. So I advise you to go to doctor, known what the problem is. And that an ovulation induction drugs like the one I mentioned above.
