Evening every one. Please I want to know when calcium should be taken during pregnancy.
As a pregnant mom, your developing baby needs calcium to build strong bones and teeth. Calcium plays an important role to help your baby grow a healthy heart, nerves, and muscles as well as develop a normal heart rhythm and blood-clotting abilities. Your body can't make calcium, so you need to get it from food or supplements. While you're pregnant, try to get at least 1,000 mg of calcium every day. If you're 18 or younger, then you need at least 1,300 mg of calcium every day. Foods like Milk and other dairy products are top sources of Calcium, as are canned fish and calcium-fortified cereal, juice, soy and rice beverages, and bread.
