Hi doctors in the house..I was given Alphadopar (methyldopa) by my doctor bcus my BP is high..is this drug safe am 35 wks gone.

Yes it's very safe..I was on it too from my 32 weeks till I delivered at 37weeks and baby is doing fine but I do check my blood pressure then almost everyday cos mine was pregnancy induced so that it won't go down so low and my blood went back to normal immediately after delivery before I left the hospital

Well.... Most times it goes back to normal after the baby is out, it might not be immediately but it will. Make sure you take your medications and listen to your doctor.

I had high Bp too during my pregnancy from 29 weeks. I was on methyldopa till I delivered around 37 weeks and some days and my baby is perfectly okay

Yes it is Augusta unless otherwise started by your doctor. Methyldopa is a common medicine of choice for treating high blood pressure in pregnancy or pregnancy induced high BP because it is not usually harmful to a developing baby. Always report to your doctor if you feel strange at anytime.Away from the drug, this is time to go out with your hubby and friends ..Watch great movies...please dont stress yourself, no heavy lifting.If there's anything making you worry at this time, no that worry never solves anything. You've done this for 35 weeks, you're strong...Keep the faith
