Most coughs and catarrh are viral and will resolve on its own, with or without treatment. If you are breastfeeding exclusively please continue to do so and keep the baby warm. Also keep child away from people with cough and irritants like smoke.

However if it persists for more than two weeks, baby has difficulty breathing, develops fever or breathes fast, please take your child to see a doctor, preferably a paediatrician, for thorough evaluation and treatment. .
