Dont give ur baby cough syrup. Babies less than 2 years are not meant to be given cough syrup of any kind. Give him amoxicillin syrup instead, 2.5mls three times daily for 5-7 days + vit C syrup too. Keep him warm this season, cover his head especially when going out and his chest too. U can rub mentholatum on his chest, ribs, palms and feet after bathing in d morning and before going to bed. But if d condition persists, pls take him to a paediatrician for evaluation.
