If u are going to use methylated spirit, get an original one, clean it every 2 hours till it drops off and still continue to clean till it closes but maybe 3-4 hourly then. Or u could use chlorxgl gel wc one applies once daily after bath, u can read d instructions too. It is also important to note that different babies with their own milestone. Just make sure u take either of d options to keep it from infection!
