At what age do you stop feeding a child every three hours?
From birth to six months, breastfeeding should be on demand or at least every 3 hours.
How many times in day should I be giving 17months old baby food?
Dear ma,
Increase food quantity as the child ages–while maintaining frequent
breastfeeding
• Provide 6–8 month old infants approximately 200 kcal per day from
complementary foods.

• Provide 9–11 month old infants approximately 300 kcal per day from
complementary foods.

• Provide 12–24 month old children approximately 550 kcal per day from
complementary foods.

Local research is needed to determine the best combinations of foods and
practices to achieve these levels of energy intake.
Increase feeding frequency as the child ages

• Feed 6–8 month old infants complementary foods 2–3 times per day.

• Feed 9–11 month old infants complementary foods 3–4 times per day.

• Feed 12–24 month old children
complementary foods 3–4 times per day.

• Offer nutritious snacks 1–2 times per day, as desired.
My baby is now six months and I’m weaning her, should i introduce a feeding bottle or sippy cup?
Do not use feeding bottle as it could harbour dirts in some parts especially the teat which can be difficult to clean thereby exposing the child to diarrhoea and the likes. You can use sippy cup but ensure it is washed and sterilized after each use.

You will need to apply a lot of patience as some kids are picky eaters. Do not expect your child to finish a full bowl of food but some spoons offered occasionally will do. Also try to be creative in presenting your meals, use colourful plates and spoons as well. Keep trying and do not give up.

Its gastroesophageal reflux, just a jargon that says food return from the stomach to the oesophagus after feed instead of staying down. For such babies, you need to keep them upright for up to 30 minutes or more after each feed...so it stays down.....You can keep them in the car seat put in upright position if you are too tired or busy to carry them that long...others can help too.....sometimes that may not work and some babies need to have their feeds thickened and so on....but we will do that only if it so bad and not allowing baby to gain weight....please see your paediatricians for further management at that point.

Feeding children complimentary meal can be challenging as some children might be very picky eaters and lot of patience is needed. Don’t give up on new foods! Patience is the key. Another good one is Perseverance. Don’t be quickly give in when the child refuses the new food after the first attempt. You may have to offer your child a new food 10 or 15 times before he will eat it. You may even have to revisit already abandoned one and you may be surprised it will now become accepted! Please be patient and try as much as possible to make meal time fun for your child. You can also try eating along with her to encourage her.
Introduce her to varieties of food containing all classes of food including fruits, you will surely find some foods she likes until she adjusts very well.

I want to know if its good to wake a baby up to feed her during a prolonged sleep?
Yes it is good. It is normal to sleep through the night for some babies but you need to wake the baby to feed him/her, Try to breastfeed during the night at least every 3 hours that is like 2 or 3 times during the night. The baby does not need to wake up fully to breastfeed.

My 10months baby won't eat anything except breast milk ?Please help, my baby has lost so much weight because she won't let me feed her. At 6 months she loved pap but will never take milk...
I can feel your frustration ma. Normally, Breastmilk or formula is an important part of your child's diet until his first birthday (and breastfeeding after this still has benefits). But from six months, milk alone can't provide everything he needs. In particular, he needs to eat some solid foods that contain iron, to make sure he's getting enough. In general, time, persistence and patience are the keys to encouraging your little one to eat. Try to keep mealtimes as relaxed as possible, keep offering foods, and show your baby how much you enjoy eating yourself. Eventually, he should follow your lead and start tucking in with enthusiasm.

Dear mums what can i start feeding my baby, he just turned 6months?
U can start with pap and milk, cereals too. Then patiently introduce what u eat to him or her in puree food. E.g rice puree + egg yolk. Boil d rice with no salt, allow it to cool off a bit, then add already boiled egg yolk to it and blend, serve warm immediately. U can research online for more cos not all babies take cereal or pap so u have to be well prepared.
