D major side effect for some ppl is heavy menses, which resolves overtime...other self induced side effects are Pelvic inflammatory diseases and vaginal infection which are caused by poor hygiene.

Its a device inserted into the uterus through the cervix, it works by attracting sperm thereby preventing pregnancy. It has high effective rate. U can ask ur family planner for more info.
