I'm a chronic carrier of the hepatitis B virus and have given birth recently. I read online that she was supposed to be given an immunoglobulin 24hrs after birth but she wasn't.However,as per my country's immunization plan, she was given a vaccine from 6wks up to 14wks.Please will my baby still be exposed to the virus?.Help a worried mom

You did not specify how old your baby is now. But there is nothing else to do but you may want to check (see a PAEDIATRICIAN) to know if he was infected or not. The immunoglobulin was to protect before the vaccine kicks in. HBV can also be transferred from breast milk to the baby

Since your baby's immunized now, he should be protected unless he has caught the HBV infection in the period before the vaccine becomes effective usually after a month or so after the administration of the vaccine!

It depends on your current HBV infection status if you are actively injective or not. There are tests that your doctor should have done
